Lunch with Friends and the Ferry

Today we were up early and getting ready to head out to have lunch with some friends from the Class of 2007. We were to meet at a place called Gonzales in Donna, TX at 11m…isn’t that a little early for lunch??? Well when we got there we realized why we needed to be there at 11am. The place was packed!! Now this is just a small building with no signs outside. A few tables inside and fewer outside. We stood in line to place our order. Hamburgers or Cheeseburgers..single or doubles…and fries or onion rings. Canned sodas.  They were great!!!  The Cheeseburgers are HUGE and I could only eat about half of mine. Mac ordered a double…LOL

We got to reconnect with Greg & Jean, Jay & Fay, Hank & Patty and several others that we hadn’t met before. We ate our lunch and got in some serious visiting with plans to meet again before we leave the Valley. Forgot my camera so no photos of lunch…sorry

We left Gonzales and were off to pick up Mark & Dortha to go and see the last Hand Drawn Ferry in the US.  The ferry is in Los Ebanos, TX.

and then they are bringing more passengers back to the US…

They had to tie off the Ferry on the US side and a Border Patrol Agent checked it over and locked it up for the night. Since the workers  were done for the day they headed back to Mexico in a little blue boat  and loaded it up on a wheel barrel until they come back to work tomorrow.

It is a nice feeling to see this sign…

We headed back to Mission after a great day with friends and dropped Mark and Dortha off and set and visited for quite a while before going back to our RV.

Tomorrow..Mac & I, Mark & Dortha, Nolan & Donna, Chuck & Kathy, Jesse & Ginger, and Ed & Marilyn are headed to the RV Show and then out to lunch at Arturo’s. Then maybe off to a new Indoor Flea Market in the afternoon.

This has been such a great trip for us! We are having so much fun with friends…

Stay tune for what’s happening next….

Hugs to all!!!

Week 2 in the Valley

We are having a great time in the valley just hanging out with friends and kicking back.

Sunday we had to make another trip to the Flea Market as Mac had to exchange a cable and Dortha was looking for some charms for her bracelet. Mac made his exchange and Dortha found the charms that she was looking for…

DSC_0252 (2)

and then we looked around for awhile..

DSC_0255 (2)

I wanted a grapefruit knife and Dortha and Mark needed a Pizza cutter. We made those purchases.

DSC_0256 (2)

We just browsed around for a little while and saw lots of stuff…like these

and these…

We decided that we were not ready to go home yet and decided to look around a little while and drove through…Victoria Palms

A very nice RV Resort.

After the trip to the Flea Market we were getting hungry and decided to stop at a Chinese Buffet and had a wonderful meal and a great conversation.

We then decided that we would try to find the RV Park that Marvin (Smokey-Bear) and Karen are in. Our friends Paul and Mary will be staying in this park next month also.

It took us a little while, but we finally found it…

We had a nice visit with Marvin & Karen and then headed back to the house. What a great day with friends!!!

Monday we went to the RV Park Potluck. Great food and lots of conversation.

Tuesday we had plans to make our Wal-Mart run and then head out to Bentson State Park to look around.

Ww decided to stop and have lunch before heading to the park. We saw a Mexican Restaurant and decided to try it…

DSC_0295 (2)

La Casa del Taco.. well the food was not anything to write home about. Mine tasted very nasty, and Mac’s was just ok. We won’t be going back.

We took off toward the park but we got our minds changed…it was raining..

DSC_0311 (2)

and when we got to the entrance to the park we saw this…

DSC_0297 (2)

in the background you can barely see the Border Patrol that have the road closed…hmmm wonder what’s up with that.

So we drove through Bentsen Palms RV Resort. Very nice park.

We went back to the RV and just chilled the rest of the evening.

Wednesday morning Mac had to make a trip to the hospital for blood work that he has to have every week for awhile.

It is still raining so we will probably just hang out in the RV today and do some picking up around here.

We will be glad when tomorrow gets here…it is supposed to be 74* here..YEAH!!

Stay tuned to whatever our next adventure will be.

Hugs to all!!

Our First Week In The Valley

Wow! I can’t believe that we have been in Mission, TX for a week already!

We have settled in at Seven Oaks RV Resort and have been relaxing and spending time with our friends.

Our daughter Teri called us to let us know that her husband Lynnie’s grandfather had passed away. Our thoughts are with them in this sad time.

Monday night we attended the Pot Luck here at the park. The food was yummy and we met several people staying here. I forgot to take my camera so no photos of this…sorry

The weather has been really cool here so we haven’t been able to spend much time outside.

Wednesday Mark & Dortha invited us to go to the Flea Market with them so we took off and had a great day!

Mark and Mac headed in to the Market

Thursday, Chuck & Kathy called to see if we wanted to go to the Travel Show and have dinner with them. We declined the Travel Show as my Laptop has been acting up and we took it to Best Buy and were told that the hard drive was going out. I opted to try to get everything backed up to my external hard drive before that happened.

We agreed that we would meet them for an early dinner. Good thing, we declined on the show because when they got to the Convention Center, the Travel Show didn’t even start until Friday…LOL

Chuck & Kathy…

We had a great time with them. We haven’t seen them since we left Kerrville last March.

Friday I finally got my backup completed on the Laptop and off to Best Buy to look for another one. They had a few on sale and I also had a $25.00 certificate to use. I purchased a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. I have friends that have this brand and have only good things to say about them. I decided to try something different since all my HP’s seem to start falling apart about the time the warranty runs out..of course.

Saturday we were up early and off to the park Pancake Breakfast. We needed to hurry because we were heading to South Padre Island with Mark & Dortha and meeting up with Nolan & Donna and Leona & Jerry for lunch at Pirate’s Landing. You all know that I am not a big seafood eater…but I had Stuffed Shrimp and Scallops and they were wonderful. What a difference it makes when you eat fresh seafood instead of the frozen kind you buy in the grocery store..lol

Here we are going into Port Isabel for lunch..
