Our Time Since Returning to Rockport….

The last week has passed quickly. I flew back to Rockport, TX on March 16th and Mac picked me up at the airport. I think he kind of missed me…lol

Wednesday the Rockport gang had a free BBQ lunch at the Clubhouse sponsored by the park. We had made plans to get together later in the day for food and fun! We all brought something green to eat and played games.

Group St Paddys Day [800x600]

Thursday part of the group went to tour the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi and part of them went to the Aransas Pass Wildlife Refuge. I wasn’t feeling very good so Mac and I didn’t go to either. Later in the day we took a drive down by the bay to see if we could see the Whooping Cranes. No luck, but we had a nice drive.

Friday the ones that didn’t go to the Wildlife Refuge the day before all carpooled and headed out for our day at the Refuge.

We stopped at the Visitors Center first to see all the displays…then we were off.

Saturday, we went to the Clubhouse and played cards. Then headed back to the RV for an early night.

Sunday we all met for dinner at Pepito’s Mexican Restaurant.

After dinner we were supposed to go to the Clubhouse for cards but I wasn’t feeling good(can’t decide if this crap is a bug or an ulcer) so I didn’t go up.

Monday we met for breakfast at Alice Faye’s on the Bay. The food was very good, but the company and conversation was much better!

Went back to the park and set outside in front of Bob & Molly’s Motorhome visiting for a long time when someone mentioned going for Pizza…so we met some of the group at Panjo’s for Pizza.

We rode with Bob & Molly. After the pizza we took a ride to see if we could spot the Whoopers and got a couple of photos. Mark let me use his 300mm lens and I got a good shot. After we left there we started back to the RV and I spotted some Roseate Spoonbills. We just had to stop for a photo op!! We got a couple of shots and they flew to the other side so we headed in that direction to see if we could get some better photos. Molly decided she was going to walk down closer and got stuck in the mud….oh my it was messy and the mud was really stinky..I was holding 2 cameras and never even took a photo of her…lol

Tuesday we went to Port Aransas to the beach. It was supposed to be a nice day but when we got there it was cloudy and windy. We stayed a couple of hours and just walked on the beach.

We left there and went to lunch with Kevin & Arlene and Nolan & Donna at Port A Brewing Company. We went down and were loaded on the ferry and while waiting we saw this big boat go by.

We needed to get back to the RV Park for a Salad Supper and games. I still wasn’t feeling well, so I sent our addition to the dinner with Mac and I stayed at the RV.

Wednesday was a lazy day around the park, I guess. Everyone seemed to have their own things going on today…Mac and I took another ride to see if we could see the Whooping Cranes again. We spotted them a I took a few more photos…

DSC_0020 [800x600]

We also got a few photos of some old airplanes at the airport. Here’s what I got but we are going to try to get a better look at them later and some more photos.

I’m still not feeling very good and not really sure what the problem is. I won’t go into details but can’t decide if it is a virus or maybe an ulcer? Anyhow it has been pretty miserable for me for the last few days. I feel a little better today so I’m hoping that all will be better soon.

Thursday we are on for lunch at The Butter Churn. We’ve not been there but the others in the group have and say it is really good.

Hugs to everyone!

Spending Time In Garnett

As most of you all know, I flew home from Rockport, TX last Sunday the 7th of March. I had talked to my brother’s doctor and he told me that he was going to release Jerry from the hospital and I should get Hospice care set up for him.

So off I went. LeAnn, Becca, and Maci picked me up at the airport..It was really good to see them again! I hadn’t seen them since December. We stopped on the way at Chili’s for dinner and a lot of wonderful conversation.

Monday I was on the phone with the Assisted Living Facility about the Hospice Care and Jenni & I went to the hospital to visit Jerry. He looks very good, just really tired.

Tuesday I took all of our Tax stuff to our Tax Preparer. Oh I am not looking forward to the outcome of this years taxes…

I also had a meeting with the Hospice caregivers, VITAS. They are great…the are the only ones in this area that do 24 hour Critical care…7 days a week if needed. I got all of that set up so it will be available whenever Jerry gets to the point that he needs it.

Wednesday, Jenni and I went to see Jerry again..he looks much better today.

Thursday was much the same as Wednesday.

Friday, we went to visit with Jerry and did a little shopping I needed at WalMart.

Saturday, Jenni, Gloria, and I went to Emporia to watch Natalie play her last game of  basketball for the season. She is playing on a Church league. They won! I don’t have any photos because I left all my cameras in Rockport…Natalie came back to Garnett with us for her spring break.

Jenni, Natalie, and Gloria spent the night with me on Saturday…we had so much fun! We laughed until we cried…

Sunday we took pizza over to Jerry’s for a pizza party. Jenni, Natalie, and Gloria went with me. We had a good time with Jerry and he really liked the pizza. He is looking so much better!

Today we will be going to see Jerry again and tell him goodbye since I will be flying back to Rockport Tuesday morning at 10am…

It has been nice to be back here to see Jerry and the kids and grandkids, but I can’t wait to get back to Rockport and see Mac!!! I have really missed him.

Well that is my week in a nutshell….hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Hugs to all!!

Traveling to Rockport

Monday morning we were up bright and early for our travel day to Rockport, TX. We had a few issues and didn’t leave the Park until about 10:30am.

We had a pretty easy drive, only about 3 hours, or so we thought…We left Mission behind and headed east. We saw a lot of RV’s headed out of the Valley…wonder where they were all headed.

DSC_0005 [800x600]

We had to stop at a Border Checkpoint…

DSC_0011 [800x600]

We passed by a Dirt Storm…wow we haven’t seen one of those since we lived in Western Kansas…

DSC_0021 [800x600]

and then a stop for fuel..and we were off again!! Next stop Rockport! Well, Miss Guide had other things in store for us on this nice sunny day…We sailed right through Corpus Christi and saw …

and then we crossed over the Causeway Bridge. Miss Guide proceeded to tell us to continue on Highway 35 until Farm Road 1069, so of course we followed her lead..that is where the trouble started. We were officially lost!..hmmm

DSC_0086 [800x600]

Well we finally made it to The Last Resort in Rockport, TX about 4pm and were welcomed by all our other friends .

DSC_0096 [800x600]

Mark & Dortha had to fly back to Fort Worth for a funeral so they were already gone by the time we got there.

DSC_0107 [800x600]

Mac & I, Rod & Deb, and Kevin & Arlene went to The Big Fisherman for dinner so we didn’t have to cook.

Tuesday morning Mac & I went sight seeing. We drove down by the water and checked out the local Chamber of Commerce for some Visitor information…

We were told that Dortha had fallen down some stairs and broken her Collarbone and had been to the ER and was going to visit her Orthopedic doctor to see if she would be able to come back to Rockport.

Thursday, we met a group of friends at China A for lunch…the food was great and the conversation was better! After lunch we rode around a little while and visited the Chamber of Commerce again so that Rod & Deb could pick up some information. We headed back and we just hung out at the RV..I was not feeling very well..cough, congestion, headache…uggh. Mark & Dortha made it back!

DSC_0004 [800x600]

Friday, we met the gang at The Big Fisherman for lunch. I still was not feeling very good so we headed back home. Mac and I went to check out this building down by the water, and ended up seeing the Pelican’s feeding. We also saw 2 very large fins skimming the water. Looked like sharks, but might have been something else. All we know is that it attacked on of the Pelicans and when it came out of the water it looked to be about 10-15’ long. Of course the camera was at the RV. We ran back to get it but they were all gone when we got back…

We drove around a little longer and we headed back to the Park to see if Charlie & Peggy had made it in yet. They had just arrived. Kevin & Donna decided to stay at their RV’s while Mac, myself, & Arlene decided we were going to ride the ferry over to Port Aransas…Now that was fun!

Sunday I flew back to Kansas to check on my brother and to have a meeting with our tax preparer. I will probably be here about a week and then hopefully I can fly back down to Texas for the last 2 weeks of our trip…

Our granddaughter played in the Substate Basketball Tournament. Unfortunately they didn’t make it to State this year but we are so proud of her! She plays hard and always gives her very best! She is an exceptional player and we love her very much! Next year she will be playing College Ball!! Love you Brit!

Hugs to all!!
