Sunday, Race Day

Netters and Mac in chairs

Well, it has been a week since I last posted. We are finally getting rested up from the trip home and our family visiting.

The kids left on Wednesday morning, and of course they forgot a few things..lol. It seems that it is hard to make sure you get everything, especially when there are a lot of you. So, I guess I will be mailing things to them. At least they didn't forget Britny's dress...they almost did!! They were getting in the car to leave and Dana & I both asked "Did You Get Your Dress"? and she jumped out and took off towards the house. lol

Mac has worked on the RV most of the week adding the new stabilizers and other things. Now I just need to get him to get my cornice boards made for the bedroom so that I can Cover them.

The cat tripped me and I think I pulled a muscle in my back so I have been doing some computer work and also working on the crosses that Dortha and Gina are wanting. I also looked for the black plexiglass to make a sign for Rod & Deb.

We haven't tackled anymore on the house yet, but will get started on that again next week. It's funny, before we went to Kerrville I was very reluctant to get rid of some of my things. Now, I just want to get them packed up and sorted to sell, give away and store. And there won't be a lot to store!! The trip kick started me to get things done, I think. lol

I finally got hold of "The Last Resort" in Rockport Texas this morning and made our reservations for March of 2010 and now I am already anxious to see all of our friends again. We have site # 87 for March 1st. Hopefully, we won't have to wait that long to see some of you.

Well, I better finish this as the NASCAR Race at Bristol will be starting soon and I think we have someone coming to look at the Travel Trailer this afternoon...keep your fingers crossed!!

Home Again

We got home Sunday afternoon without any problems. We were dead tired and didn't want our vacation to end. We got the 5er back on it's cement slab and set back up.

Our daughter Dana, and granddaughters, Britny and Crystal, plus our great granddaughter, Jaelynn were at our house to welcome us home. Our other daughter, Jenni and her family were not far behind.

We unloaded some of the things that had to come inside and then had dinner.

Monday was a work day for me so I had to get my things ready to start the week. It was a really busy day. Whew, was I tired..I guess I got out of practice on vacation..lol

Tuesday, Dana and I took Britny, Crystal, and Gloria to Kansas City in search of a Prom dress for Britny. She actually found one in the first store that we went to...she said she was glad she found it so fast because she was tired of shopping..."What" did I hear that correct..one of my granddaughters tired of shopping..I could not believe my ears.  lol !!  She looked great in her dress.

Grandpa had to look over the dress and make sure nothing was gonna be too exposed..lol. She kept asking me while we were shopping..."What would grandpa say"  she is a great kid.

They left to go home this morning. I'm gonna miss them. We only get to see them about twice a year because they live about 7 hours away. Hopefully soon we will be able to spend more time with all of the kids and grandkids.

Work was pretty busy again today. Lots of appointments scheduled.

Tomorrow is my day off and I am going to try to enjoy it. I have errands to run for my mom and need to go and visit my brother, but I am gonna try to relax a little if I can.

We sure miss all our friends from Kerrville. It sure seems like that 2 weeks just flew by. Can't wait to see all of you again!

My posts will probably start being farther apart again since nothing is really going on around here. We are trying to work on things to have a Garage Sale when the town has its City-Wide Sale in April. We are also going to take a load to the local Thrift Store. We will be working hard to get as much cleared out of this place as we can before Mac leaves for the Inspection job.

Well that has been our week so far after getting home.

March 14th & 15th The Trip Home

We woke up to very cold weather this morning. It is our day to start our journey back to the real world and home to Garnett. I got up and jumped in the shower while Mac started on his stuff outside. I had barely finished when people started coming over to tell us goodbye and wish us a safe trip. Dortha, Mark, Kevin, Arlene, Rollie, Gina, Chuck, and Kathy were all there to wish us a safe trip. Of course Deb and Rod told us goodbye last night as we knew they would not be up early enough to see us off..lol.  There were lots of hugs and a few teary eyes before we got in the truck and headed out to start home...Oh no, we forgot to tell Joe and Sherri goodbye, so we circled around the park and stopped at their Rv. They are leaving today also. They had decided to stay another day, but when they went to the office they were told that the park was full and didn't have an opening for them. So they were rushing around trying to get things ready to leave. We said our goodbyes and hugs and agreed to meet sometime in June when they come up to Kansas City to visit their son and family. JB and Brenda were at Joe and Sherri's and we got to tell them goodbye also. As we were leaving their RV we met Ginger outside and told her goodbye.

Now we were ready to head out...not really, but we had to..lol.

We had a long day of driving ahead of us for the day. We wanted to get as far as Oklahoma City before we stopped. Well, we didn't make it that far. We stopped in Ada, Ok and spent the night at WalMart parking lot. We had traveled about 460 miles today. Whew..I will be glad when we can take as many days as we want to travel from one place to the next. I don't like to sit in that truck so many hours at a time.

We will leave here on Sunday morning and start the final leg of our journey home. It will take us about 6-7 hours to get home tomorrow. I will upload this post when I have internet sevice again.

Sunday morning we woke up to lots of fog. We took off from Ada, OK headed north at about 8:15am. The trip was uneventful except trying to find somewhere to eat lunch. We ended up driving all the way home without having breakfast, lunch or dinner. We got home about 4:30 and started setting up the RV on the slab so that we can start unloading the things that need to go inside the house.

Our daughter Dana,

March 13th--Last Day in Kerrville

We woke up this morning and it hit us...this is our last day in Kerrville. Oh no, vacation is almost over. What a bummer.

We had ordered a stone yesterday from "Uptown" Luckenbach, TX (I was informed that I had spelled it wrong in my last post...oops) and we needed to go over a pick it up. Gregg and I started off and saw Kevin outside his Rv and he decided to ride over with us. We picked up the stone and found a couple of other things. Monroe was nice enough to personalize them for us. He made me another fast armadillo..on a Bud Light Bottle...here are a couple photos of the stone:

After that task was done, we headed back towards Kerrville stopping at HEB in Fredericksburg to pick up the things to make homemade biscuits for the "Breakfast for Supper" night for dinner this evening. We made it back to the RV and I got busy making biscuits and Mac went for ice and fuel.

We went over to the Gathering Room for our last dinner together. Boy, was I getting sad. I really hate to leave all these new friends. I have chatted with them for so long that I felt like I already knew them, so saying goodbye was gonna be hard. Here are a few photos from the dinner:

That is it for our last day at Buckhorn Lake Resort in Kerrville, TX.

I will update everyone on our journey toward home when I get back to our house since I won't have any internet service until then...need to buy an air card.

March 12th-Mr Gatti's and Bandara and Lukenbach TX

Today started out really cold. It was only in the low 40's here in Kerrville. It was gloomy and misty. Kevin and Arlene stopped by to see if we wanted to take a road trip to Bandera, TX. It is called the Cowboy Capital of the World so we decided that we should really see this place. So about 10:30 we took off. Bandera is a pretty small community with many old fashioned shops. We stopped and had lunch at the OST(Old Spanish Trail) Diner. The food was fabulous!! Arlene and I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Mac and Kevin had buffet. The steaks were hand breaded and huge! The Pork Chops on the buffet looked really good also. Here are a few photos from the diner.

We left the diner and headed off to the General Store to see what they had to offer...

After we finished browsing in Bandera we decided to stop at Lukenbach, TX on our way back to Kerrville. This was a Hoot!! I actually thought there was a real town called Lukenbach. I guess there used to be but now just the General Store/Post Office is all that is there and the population is 3.  Yes, 3. The Post Office quit operating in 1971. Here are photos from Lukenbach.

When we left there we were in search of a shop called "The Uptown Shop". It is just a small building on the side of the road where a man sells pieces of stone like granite and others that he engraves images on. He is a good artist and also will draw you the fastest Armadillo on a beer bottle and personalize and date it for you. I didn't take a photo of my bottle but will tomorrow and post it on the blog. We also ordered a stone to be made for us that has an engraving of our truck and 5th wheel and says "Welcome to Our Rig" Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

We finished up the evening with a trip to Mr Gatti's for Pizza and Pasta and then went to the Social Room for Talk, Games, and some of us girls computering
